$100 Dollar iPhone/iTouch Price Drop Soon?

9to5Mac is reporting that they just received a tip about a price drop for the current iPhone and iPod Touch lines within the next month or two (possibly at the February 26th event). The price drop of $100 is to be accompanied by the drop of the 8GB iPod Touch (and possibly the 8GB iPhone) from the line. The iPhone price drops are probably to prepare for the introduction of a newer 3G iPhone in late 2008.

Doesn’t Apple remember the outcry when they dropped the price of the iPhone by $200 a few months after it was released? I hope they

think about that before they compose that price drop as some iPod Touch users are already upset about having to pay $20 for the January software update. I don’t see why Apple didn’t just construct the price change with the introduction of the 16GB iPhone and 32GB iPod Touch by keeping the current prices while upgrading the specs. that is the method they have always used in the past and it seems to have served them well.

Are you listening Apple?
