24.4 Megapixel Replacement for the D3?

DP Review forums are abuzz of a new Nikon firmware update for its flagship camera, the D3. Inside the cipher, a forum member found references to a future D3-X model that has 24.4 megapixel for you to play with, which is more than double of what the current one offers at 12.1 megapixels. The v1.10 cipher had bits of cipher that features the string “D3X”, and I presume all D3 owners are

keeping their fingers crossed that a software hack will be able to see an increase in megapixel count. Nikon is silent on that issue when approached to give a comment, and somehow I am not surprised. Ah well, I guess we will have to wait until the real deal is released.
