400,000 Web Gaming ‘Gold Farmers’ - Report

Researchers at the UK’s Manchester University estimate that some 400,000 citizens WORLDWIDE WORK AS Net GAMING GOLD FARMERS — mostly in China, but additionally in Romania, Indonesia and Mexico. ‘Gold farmers’ are low-paid, overworked young public who play games like World of Warcraft

and Lineage all day in order to earn points and get virtual gold, equipment or skills that can be sold for real money. The Manchester study says gold farming is a multi-hundred million dollar industry. Who knew?
