54Mbps Speeds on your Phones

Only in Japan will you get 54Mbps high-speed packet communication and VoIP by your cell phone, and that will happen from June onwards much to the chagrin of the rest of the world. It is amazing that such service is available to ordinary folk there, and here we are without even full 3G coverage all through the entire country. Granted, Japan’s not that huge in land mass size, but

3.6Mbps and 54Mbps is a whole world of difference. Only DoCoMo FOMA handsets will be able to take advantage of that service. There will be no signup fee involved, but users will be charged a $10 monthly access fee.
