Alertle is a new feed aggregator that lets you customize your incoming feeds based on your personal preferences. Some aspects of Alertle are much like a start page, in that there are tabs across the top for you to toggle amoung, each of which have a pre-populated set of feeds based on their respective category.

As Alertle is a customizable application, you can add to these tabs and create your own feed package. Customized feed packages can be kept private, or shared with the public. While finding other Alertle users’ public feed packages isn’t an easy task directly from the site, that sharing feature is best utilized in shared feeds amidst individuals and groups. In that way, Alertle is quite similar to the existing feed readers like Bloglines and others.

Alertle has one interesting feature, which is an autoplay option to

go through the feeds’ items like a slideshow. On the left hand side of the screen you can see the feed titles, and on the right hand side of the screen you’ll see the related feed composition, including images and urls. Unlike more integrated feed readers like fav.or.it, Alertle doesn’t have many direct interactive options for the feeds’ substance.

In all, Alertle doesn’t have quite sufficient features to successfully compete with the leaders in that arena. Making some of its composition more exportable seems like a good fit for Alertle, such as a mobile feed reader with a similar format, or the ability to embed these slideshow-like feed readers, along with some additional interactivity options.
