China Pays 300,000 to Influence Opinion Online

The government of China pays about 300,000 folks TO POST OPINIONS ONLINE favorable to the government or to China, according to an editorial in the UK’s Guardian newspaper.

Called the 50-cent army (because each post earns 50 Chinese cents to the poster), performs what’s called “astroturfing,” but on a massive scale.
