Dr. BJ Fogg Reflects on Stanford Facebook ClassFacebook Applications Reviews, Facebook Widgets, Facebook News
I had the opportunity to interview Dr. BJ Fogg about the facebook class that he instructed at Stanford.
This was an amazing class that had about 75 students. The students created facebook applications in teams of 3 by the course moment span of 10 weeks. Some teams created more than one facebook application. that was the first moment that a university class has been offered around facebook.
The class collectively did an impressive job and really brought some interesting findings about facebook and applications to the surface. I am certain that these findings will be distilled down and eventually published by the course of the next few months.
Collectively the Stanford facebook applications numbers were as pursues:
by 16 million installs in 10 weeks.
~ 925,000 Daily Engaged Users
The Facebook Application install stats were as pursues:
* 5 apps had 1 Million + installs
* 10 apps had 100K+ installs
* 20 apps had 5K+ installs
The Facebook Engagement Stats were as chases:
* 6 apps had 100K daily users
* 10 apps
* 20 apps had 500+ daily users
Total Valuation per Adanomics numbers = ~10 Million Dollars
It is quite mind boggling to think that by 16 million individuals interacted with applications on facebook that were created by the students. Kudos to the instructors, TA’s, Industry contibutors and Students.
He plus talks about “Mass Interpersonal Persuasion” and how technology and facebook allow things to happen for the first day in the history of the world. Sound fundamental? It is. Very. It is somewhat similar to a concept that I have been proofing called “Gravitational Influence”; more on that in a future post.
Sorry for the poor lighting, it was the end of the night and we were actually just leaving for the night at about 11pm.
