How many make it to the real friends list?

With the welcomed new service Friend List in Facebook (although it would actually have been great to be able to set permissions based on the lists instead of just being able to make the lists) - I went through an interesting exercise this morning and made 3 lists:

  • Business / casual contacts
  • Family
  • Friends (as in real friends)

I am not a heavy Facebook users as such - but I have managed to build a list of some 141 “friends” so far. So after actually sorting the first group I started to realize that there were not many people left to fit into the last two groups - in fact only 5 people made it to the last

two groups combined.

I wonder if this is the same for most users out there - and if so what is really the point of Facebook - we have LinkedIn or Plaxo for the business side of things and for the family and real friends you do not really stay in touch using Facebook now do you?

Do you think that social sites like Facebook has got it right?

Obviously they get a loot of traffic - but then again so does porn sites, news sites and blogs - so perhaps we should all just have our own small sites, make our own income from Adsense or other sources and invite the people we like to visit our sites.
