Israeli Web Site: Iranian Hackers Disrupting Message

An Israeli Web site manager said Monday that hackers, probably Iran-based, have been trying to disrupt a notice from an American Jewish leader to the Iranian society.

The manager, Ohad Rosen, said Malcolm Hoenlein, longtime executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, posted a letter to the society of Iran on the site on June 18. The data, in English with subtitles in Arabic and Persian, tells the citizens of Iran that their government does

not represent their interests.

In the 2 1/2 minute notice, Hoenlein says American Jews hope to re-establish cooperation with the public of Iran. “We want to work with you,” he says. “It is regrettable that you have a leadership that does not care about your welfare, and the conditions under which you live, but rather exploits it in search of extremist goals.”

Iranian officials were not available for comment.
