Motorcycle Simulator to help improve road safety and bike design

A strange motorcycle simulator has been developed by British researchers to help improve road safety and bike design. The Triumph motorbike is mounted on an interactive moving platform which is linked to driving simulation software. that projects different scenarios onto huge screens in front of and behind of the motorcyclist, which makes a realistic experience. The simulator will be able to replicate different weather conditions, traffic and hazards and will plus feature a

rear road view projector that is viewable through the bike’s mirrors.

Researchers will be able to put the rider into a tailor-made scenario and measure their performance. It could produce valuable details for motorcycle manufacturers and road safety organizations. Final year Mechanical Engineering students at Nottingham University designed and built the rig along with software to be used on the simulator. It is expected to be up and running by June
