Palm releases GSM Centro in Europe, available beginning February 14

Section: Communications, Cellphones, Smartphones, Mobile

Palm has just announced the soon-to-be-available unlocked GSM Centro. At first launch the unlocked, quad-band GSM Centro will be available in black only. The Palm Centro features a 320 x 320 display, 1.3-megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom and video capture, 64MB of user storage with a microSD card slot for additional storage and 4 hours of talk-time with 300 hours on standby. The unlocked GSM version runs Palm OS 5.4.9, sadly it still does not offer any 3G support, but that does come with a little upside as it just helps increase the battery life.

The unlocked GSM version will retail for €299/£199 or around $400 US, which is the retail pricing before any rebates are given with contracts. Meanwhile we are still awaiting further details on the AT&T and T-Mobile branded Centro that we have been seeing lately. As mentioned the unlocked GSM Centro will be available in the UK on February 14 and hit the rest of Europe later in the month.
