Shanghai translates literally into “Crazy … [Toxo-watch]

Shanghai translates literally into “Crazy Town”* and the craziest woman† there is named Pearl Lam! Christopher Mason of the Times recently visited her 9,000 square foot loft of insanity and had that to say: “Outspoken, enthusiastic and prone to shrieks of excitement, Ms. Lam is like a wound-up Chinese Auntie Mame. She stands just five feet five in high-heeled boots, but is a striking physical presence in her fuchsia-dyed chinchilla coat and her

mauve-streaked hair, which resembles an unkempt chrysanthemum.”

*Not you know literally, but kinda!
† Not crazy in the schizophrenic sad I-hope-my-mom-never-turns-out-like-that way but in the I’m the daughter of the late Lim Por-yen, a Hong Kong tycoon and have been suckled on quirkiness and excess kind of way.
