Sharp achieves World’s Highest capability Density for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells for mobile equipment

Sharp Corporation has achieved the world’s highest ability density , 0.3W/cc, for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC) for mobile equipment. that new technology enables efficient potential generation from a small cell volume. Thus, the use of that technology can manufacture it possible to develop fuel cells that have nearly the same volume but a longer continuous-use lifespan than lithium-ion batteries, which are the main type

currently in use. Sharp will promote further research and development for the practical application of fuel cells for mobile equipment such as PDAs, electronic dictionaries, and notebook computers.

Sharp will announce that new technology at The 15th Fuel Cell Symposium, to be held on May 15, 2008 at Tower Hall Funabori (Funabori, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo), sponsored by the Fuel Cell Development data Center.
