Sony Finally Drops DRM, Sort Of
In yet another move toward the day when copyright protection will be a distant memory in the digital music industry, Sony BMG hopped on the Digital Rights Management-free bandwagon on Monday.
Sony launched Platinum MusicPass, a series of digital album cards that will enable consumers to download full-length albums and bonus subject matter in a high-quality MP3 format. The cards will be priced at $12.99, which will include the complete digital album plus bonus material.
