Sony to unveil Socratto

Sony will finally reveal Socratto, its repartee to Apple’s Shake software after acquiring it from startup Nothing Real. An European patent application showed that Sony is very near to releasing its video effects software that did experience some birth pains in the past, but all that is water under the bridge now. Some segments of the industry have ridiculed Socratto, claiming that Sony’s poor track record when it comes to software won’t end with

Socratto, but we’ll adopt a wait-and-see attittude.

It is true that Sony is fundamentally a hardware company that often comes with “too little, too late” software solutions (the PSP and PS3 have so much untapped potential), but with the acquisition of Nothing Real, that might change – at least for that specific product.
