SpreadOpenId.org wants to kick start OpenID adoption for 2008The OpenID Directory Blog

At the instance of that writing there are an estimated 93 million OpenID owners out there, a lot of them not knowing where to use their OpenID, how to use it, or even not knowing that they own an OpenID at all.

That said, the most ambitious goal for 2008 should be converting these OpenID owners into OpenID users.

To achieve that goal Carsten Poetter and Thomas Huhn have launched Spread OpenID today, a non-profit

weblog committed to supporting users in finding ‘their’ provider (which can plus mean finding out that they have one already) and understanding what the differences within the providers are.

The goal of Spread OpenID is to complement the official OpenID.net site with subject matter that cannot be found there (at least not presented in the same way). The intended audience is the average Web user.
