There is no greater portrayal of Turkey Day than the legendary scene in Charlie Chaplin’s “The Gold Rush” (1925).

In the scene, Chaplin and his fellow prospector Big Jim find themselves nearing starvation while huddled in a remote Alaskan cabin on Thanksgiving. The Tramp improvises a meal by cooking his shoe — a perfect representation of just how little Chaplin needed to conjure a little

magic.
