Zune to get Multiplayer Gaming

While the Zune is pretty adept and sharing files wirelessly and keeping you occupied with audio and video, it really falls short in the other entertainment segment - games. Thankfully, Microsoft will soon take advantage of its wireless capability to introduce that element into gaming. Hopefully we will see more genres going against the grain on the Zune/Zune 2, instead of the standard puzzle games you find on the iPod. Zauri, a top-down shooter from XNA Game Studio was recently paraded

at GDC ‘08 while running on a Zune 2 - so we could see more engaging gaming titles coming our way in the near future. Some features include :-

  • Local ad-hoc wireless play with up to 8 Zunes
  • User can customize in-game music from selection on the Zune
  • Cross-platform multi-player is not supported
